    Beauty and the Beast 3D Conversion Coming on Blu-ray 3D

    It seems that soon after Disney releases their 2D to 3D conversion of the Lion King animation for a short run in 3D movie theaters and then when it becomes available on Blu-ray 3D media, they are also going to have the Beauty and the Beast in 3D (converted from 2D) on Blu-ray 3D. The date is 4th of October in the US and you can already pre-order the Beauty and the Beast on Blu-ray 3D.

    The Movie Top Gun Being Revived With a 2D to 3D Conversion

    It seems that another old and popular movie will be getting the 2D to 3D treatment and hitting back the big screen, this time it is Tony Scott’s 1986 classic movie Top Gun starring Tom Cruise. A four-minute preview of the converted movie showing some aerial flight sequences has been screened at the IBC currently being held in Amsterdam, with the fully converted movie expected in 2012.

    Star Wars: Episode I to be converted in 3D by Prime Focus

    Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) officially announced the company that they have selected to do the conversion from 2D to 3D for the first movie from the Star Wars saga and that company is Prime Focus. Utilizing Prime Focus’ proprietary View-D process for the conversion the new release of the Phantom Menace is scheduled to hit 3D theater screens on February 10, 2012.

    First Star Wars, now Indiana Jones. George Lucas is to convert the adventure saga starring Harrison Ford to 3D in advance of a re-release in cinemas. The 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, the opening film in the series, will be the first to get the treatment. Spielberg, who directed all four films, has his own 3D project, The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, in the works.
